SBK 09: Superbike World Championship is the official licensed game of the Superbike World Championship motorcycle league. The primary emphasis is on the realistic simulation of driving physics. During the season, the player assumes the role of one of 27 licensed athletes and competes in 13 of the season’s race locales (the Nürburgring is not available). Each race has up to eight sessions, including free training and warm-ups. The player may fine-tune practically every aspect of his bike in the garage, which can be delegated to an engineer for beginners. Of course, there is also the option of participating in a single racing weekend or starting a rapid race.
Two noteworthy differences exist between this game and its predecessor: driving assistance for new players and 20 tasks. In these, the player must overcome specific challenges in pre-defined conditions, such as winning a race with worn-out brakes or completing checkpoints in a set amount of time.
