Q * Bert is an adventure game released by Gottlieb in 1982. The game has extremely simple gameplay and beautiful graphics. Players will be taken to a pyramid to solve the mystery and destroy the enemies that follow them. With levels with increasing difficulty, the game promises to bring exciting experience for players to participate in new challenges.
At the beginning of the game, the player will appear at the top of a pyramid with 28 cubes stacked on top of each other. They will move from block to block by jumping over them. The color of the cube will be changed when the player touches it. Players will have to move quickly to escape the pursuit from one of the enemies like Coily snakes, the red balls falling from the top of the pyramid, Ugg, Wrong Way, Slick, and Sam. They will win that level by changing all the colored cubes to the same color as the enemy.
In the first level, the player must move quickly to avoid being attacked by Coily snakes. The player’s purple Coily snake is moved to all the cubes to convert their color to purple, destroying enemies. Appearing at the following levels are Ugg and Wrong Way, two purple creatures with high jump speed. Finally, the player will face Slick and Sam, two green creatures with the special ability to change the color of the cube as the player passes by. They can resist the pursuit of the enemy and destroy them in three ways. First, they will move through 28 cubes in turn to destroy them. Players can also throw a ball of the same color as the creature’s to make them immobile. Finally, they can move according to a new rule such as moving along the blocks of the pyramid instead of moving horizontally to slow down the movement from the opponent.
If colliding with any creature, the player will fall to the ground and the pyramid will collapse. They can restart the game and start their journey again. Each pyramid will appear in an emergency exit. However, the way to the cube containing the emergency exit is very difficult. After moving to this cube, the player will be taken to the top of the pyramid. This makes their enemies take a long time to reposition the player. Taking advantage of that will help them complete the task safely.
