This version of EA’s perennial NCAA collegiate football franchise includes rosters and statistics that have been updated since the previous release. In addition to this, it comes with brand-new features, such as a momentum meter. This meter will light up or darken depending on the number of players supporting or opposing a team, and this will affect the morale of the group and the success of their moves. In addition, it comes with a new kicking meter, spring drills that allow players to update their statistics, and a new spring game in which players may spy out their latest players by competing against them in exhibition matches.
Aside from the version for the PSP, Campus Legend is also a novelty. It is an update of the Race for the Heisman mode featured in the previous edition, and it is somewhat comparable to the NFL Superstar mode included in the Madden franchise. A fresh football player enrolls in a football camp, receiving instruction and a scholarship to play in one of the leagues. Instead of just a single exercise, there will be four of them. In the earlier version of the game, players had the option of selecting a scholarship; however, in the current edition, the game provides a selection of colleges to attend based on the players’ results. After being accepted into the school, players select a major, keep up with their progress reports, read the latest headlines in the school newspaper, and have a dorm room where fan mail is sent. The player’s girlfriend, whose image is shown on the wall as a photograph, improves in appearance in proportion to the player’s level of success in the games. Attending courses, practicing, studying, meeting with tutors, participating in drills, or engaging in social activities make up a typical day. These factors can also contribute to an increase in popularity and general success. Characters can be imported into Madden 07, and the game will evaluate them to see where they stand in the draft. Additionally, the game is integrated with ESPN, providing real-time updates with news from ESPN Radio and ESPN.com. Lee Corso, Brad Nessler, and Kirk Herbstreit are among those who lend their voices to the production.
The Xbox 360 edition does not have the Spring Drills or Campus Legend gameplay modes. Instead, it features updated graphics as well as several different minigames.
