The Jackass crew, except Bam Margera, is in a pickle because, just as they were about to start filming for their much-awaited return to television, their one and only cameraman was hurt, and now it is up to you to bring the show back on the air. Participate in various Jackass-themed challenges while playing as your favorite character from the front to win money, finish the episodes, and collect videos for the next season.
If you want to make money, you can either finish particular chores or hurt yourself, which will pay a lot of money. Once you’ve earned enough money, the episode will end, and you can move on to the next one. You begin the game with the primary players (Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Ryan Dunn, and Chris Pontius), and completing episodes will allow you to unlock additional characters. In the meantime, Wee-Man has his own minigames, referred to as Wee-Games, which feature challenges such as Roof Top Cart Stop, Poo Shower, and Wee Tattoo.
Once you have completed a stunt in the MTV Story mode, you can reprise it in the Challenge mode and replay the level with new challenges. Doing so will give you more money that you may earn in Jackass-Mart, which you can use to unlock costumes, props, other characters to play, and classic clips from the television program. You can also compete against a friend in the Wee Games or participate in a round-robin tournament with as many as four other players (PS2). The PSP version supports multiplayer play through the use of WiFi. This wacky video game features a ton of entertaining stunts that can be performed, and its injury system is ridiculous. Injuries in this game can be anything from a turf burn to a broken neck.
The PSP version allows the replays to be edited and exported in various formats. The PS2 version has more complex settings, such as passersby that the player can annoy while performing stunts, and an expanded version of the Bail-Out feature, in which points are scored based on the number of injuries the player’s character sustains.
