Guerrilla War is an immersive action game developed on Nintendo in 1987 by SNK. The game is about two commanders on the rescue journey and an unnamed island in the Caribbean. The second hero is Fidel Castro. Dissatisfied with the rule of the dictators, two heroes set out to make a liberation for the island. During the journey, they are prevented by many dangerous enemies. The two heroes must try to destroy all enemies and free the hostages captured in the enemy base. The game ends when 2 heroes win.
Opening the game, 2 heroes will start from a forest. With guerrilla fighting, the game has a simple and fast-paced. The player can control them with a rotating lever. Your enemies are diverse and dangerous. They can attack you with a plane, a tank or a sniper gun suddenly. Some enemies may even hide behind bunkers or obstacles. To destroy them, players need to approach and kill enemies by shooting or throwing grenades at them. In addition, they will appear randomly at different times even from brush grass. The game includes many levels. In the early levels, the player’s task is to destroy all enemies and defeat the dictator. Weapons of the two heroes include machine guns and grenades. By destroying obstacles like sandbags and oil cans, players can pick up support items to help increase their firepower. Some special items will allow you to spit fire, launch rockets and even lasers. Increasing power is extremely important because it helps players kill enemies much faster than machine guns.
Every time you pass the level, 2 characters can meet hostages or prisoners needing rescue. For each hostage successfully rescued, the player will be added 1000 points and deducted 500 points for failure. At the final stage of each level, players will have to meet bosses with special powers. They can be giant steam engines or a tank armored and difficult to destroy. The boss will usually have soldiers to protect, the player must destroy all soldiers and then be able to destroy the boss. After defeating all the bosses in the game, you will win.
