For the first time in over two decades, Nintendo’s flagship console, the legendary Famicom, will be getting an exclusive mixtape of music penned and programmed by top tier musicians – fitting as this cartridge features retro 8 bit chip tunes meant to be played on the beloved machine of yester year.
Only a thousand copies of this hot fire mixtape will be droppedby Columbus Circle, a Japan-based maker of videogame accessories, and 8 BIT MUSIC POWER will come with 12 original songs written in 2015.
While not an officially licensed Nintendo title, the songs written by these old school enthusiast deserve the Nintendo Seal of Approval™; the team featured in 8 Bit Power includes talent by the likes of Yuriko Keino, Namco Arcade Games Composer and Ape Escape Composer Omodaka, amongst others. As well, all the nostalgic pixel art is created by Hiroshi Ono, who also has had a hand in the Namco arcade pixel scene.
The first of it’s kind, this unique musical offering is getting a lot of buzz; it’s nice to see that in the videogame world, there will always be enthusiasts who truly love gaming, no matter what~ PLAY IT LOUD!
