Falcom studio is responsible for developing the arcade roleplaying game Ys: The Oath in Felghana, which was made available for the PC and the PSP. This reimagines an older work initially released under the title Ys III: Wanderers From Ys. The aesthetics and battle system have been entirely redesigned compared to the game’s first version.
Plot
In The Oath in Felghana, Adol Christin serves as the primary protagonist, much as he does in the majority of the other games in the series. After an absence of eight years, he returns to his hometown of Redmont, accompanied by his excellent buddy Dogi. After taking the area, they shortly learn that a violent creature has Felghana under its control. Even worse, the local volcano has resumed its previous level of activity, and the kingdom leader is cruelly exploiting his employees in every way possible. As is fitting for true heroes, Adol and Dogi will have to take matters into their own hands toto bring justice back to Felghana.
Mechanics
The plot is not essential to the story. Instead, the game’s primary objectives are the slaying of monsters, the gathering of wealth, and the exploration of new areas, and each of these components has been meticulously created. The battle is fought in real-time, and the outcome is determined by how deftly the player can navigate through the fray. The authors have devised a straightforward control scheme that enables various attacks, special techniques, and combinations.
Ys: The Oath in Felghana puts a significant emphasis on travel and discovery. When you go on adventures, you will frequently come across inaccessible places, and the only way to get to these places is by first gaining the necessary abilities. The boss battles make the game more interesting, which involve the development of innovative new fighting strategies and make the game more challenging.
Aspects of the technology
2005 marked the beginning of the game’s release in Japan. Numerous enhancements were made to the version published in English seven years after the original. It is now possible to apply contemporary graphic effects and bring the quality up to current standards, thanks to the addition of a specialized graphics menu.
