Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters is the first Ratchet & Clank game to be released for the PSP, and it is identical to the console versions. The duo is drawn into a strange adventure in this 3D action platformer and soon discovers a forgotten race of genius innovators known as the Technomites. These scientists set out to create a clone army.
Ratchet and Clank are given an entirely new armory of upgradeable weaponry and some old favorites like the Agents of Doom, the Hypershot, and the Suck Cannon. Like Up Your Arsenal, the gameplay contains an RPG-like experience system that lets the player purchase new mods. Ratchet can also amass components of various armor sets. Although these can be worn and mixed as desired, whole sets (helmet, gloves, boots, suit) grant additional powers. Minigames such as Ratchet’s hovercraft racing, Giant Clank’s space wars, and Clank’s battle robot arenas are mixed in with the platforming components.
Multiplayer is available over Wi-Fi Ad Hoc or Infrastructure, and there are four game types to choose from: DeathMatch, Team DeathMatch, Capture the Flag, and Iron Lombox Challenge. In the Iron Lombox Challenge level, players must achieve particular objectives, such as loading cows into a massive meat truck or collecting power cells for the squad.
