Burnout Legends

The first installment in the Burnout series for handheld consoles combines the best elements of the original three games: Burnout, Burnout 2: Point of Impact, and Burnout 3: Takedown. Burnout Legends’ main draw is still aggressive racing, and the player’s aim is to win races and to wreck opponent cars as much as possible. Burnout Points are awarded for opponent takedowns, drifts, and other tricks, which unlock new vehicles and other awards.

One-person games can be played as single events or as a World Tour in which players must compete in and win different races to progress through five car classes (Compact, Muscle, Coupe, Sport, and Super). There’s also the Crash mode, where the goal is to produce as much destruction as possible by plowing the player’s car into traffic. Race, Time Attack, Road Rage, Pursuit, Face Off, Eliminator, Burning Lap, and Grand Prix are the many race categories. Race, Road Rage, Pursuit, particular Crash types, Double Impact, and Party Crash (all of which can be played as single events or as a tournament), and Collector Challenge, in which the player can win other players’ Collector cars, are among the multiplayer game modes.

The PSP version’s game-sharing function lets others enjoy multiplayer events or single-player demos without owning a Burnout Legends UMD.

The DS version’s Multi-Pak compatibility enables two-player games without additional game cards, and multiple game cards are required for fun with more than two players.
