Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 4: The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood

The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood is the fourth installment in the Tales of Monkey Island episodic series. It picks up immediately after the cliffhanger of Episode 3: Guybrush is kidnapped by pirate hunter Morgan LeFlay and brought back to Flotsam Island. There, he is accused of four offenses, including crippling a cat. The first half of the game is spent clearing Guybrush of these charges in front of the Flotsam court, with Stan, a familiar character from the original games, acting as prosecutor.

Compared to Episode 3, there are fewer dialogue-based puzzles, and most riddles consist of Guybrush traveling around (new) locations, taking everything he can, and using the items on other items. He can also mix goods in his inventory. There are no mini-games save from a tiny treasure-hunting tale with a twist.

Unlike classic adventure games, Guybrush’s movement is controlled by holding the left mouse button and dragging the mouse in the appropriate direction (or using the keyboard keys). A single mouse button is used to interact with goods or people.

Unlike previous Telltale episodic adventure series, individual episodes could not be purchased separately at first. Users were compelled to pay for the five episodes because they are released monthly, presumably due to the bigger story arc. Later, the decision was reversed, and attacks were made available individually.
