WWF WrestleMania is a sports game released by Nintendo in 1989. Players will participate in dramatic 1vs1 matchups on the floor. At the beginning of the game, there will be 6 wrestlers to choose from: Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, “Macho Man” Randy Savage, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, Bam Bam Bigelow and The Honky Tonk Man. Each character’s stats will be displayed on a card so they can choose their favourite wrestler.
The game has two game modes for players to choose is normal and tournament. They will direct their wrestlers to participate in regular competitions to practice and become familiar with the way of fighting. Players can control wrestlers moving around the opponent and perform skills such as punching and kicking to attack his opponent. The physical strength of the two wrestlers on the ring is shown on the screen. Wrestlers need to move flexibly and quickly execute their attacks to reduce the opponent’s physical strength. When the opponent runs out of strength, it is time for the player to win. One item will appear in each match. Wrestlers need to quickly move to collect it. This item can increase physical strength or temporary power for wrestlers. The two wrestlers are only allowed to perform their attacks on the ring. If violating certain rules, wrestlers will receive penalties directly from the referee. His face will turn red to show anger. If too much is committed in a match, that wrestler will be disqualified.
Players can choose the tournament mode to try their wrestler. Gaining experience from regular matches will help wrestlers have good attacks, quickly taking down opponents. Wrestlers will participate in the tournament as well as other opponents. Each match will consist of three rounds. The wrestler who wins the second half will be the winner. Each round will take place within the allotted time. If two wrestlers are not defeated during that time and no wrestler violates the match rules, the match will stop with a tie. All handling of violations will be decided by the arbitrator. The winner of each match will continue to participate in the next match. However, the difficulty of each match will increase because their opponents are also excellent wrestlers. Overcoming all wrestlers in matches will help players become the champions of the game.
