Section Z

Taking on the topic of cosmic wars, Section Z is an extremely compelling game about the RPG genre. The game was released on Nintendo by Capcom in 1987. The plot of the game revolves around the character Captain Commando, who is tasked with investigating the mystery behind the disconnect between the earth and the Saturn space station. In order to do that, Captain Commando had to put on a fighter jet, equip modern weapons and give up his peaceful life for the safety of the earth. Captain Commando’s mission takes place in a space station powered by organic materials. Under the guise of an astronaut, he is free to travel around space stations.

To complete the game, Captain Commando must survive through all four levels. His main goal is to infiltrate the Section Z space station, kill the L-Brain rider and defeat Balangool’s space wicked to save the Earth. The game is divided into three main areas including the station area, the area in the ventilation duct and an area containing rocks, lava, and aliens. Each of these main areas is a complex maze. At the end of each area, you can use a teleportation gate to move to the next area. However, these teleport gates are not regular, so you will not know whether you are being moved to the area before or after. The teleportation gates are also part of the maze winding around the space station. Some areas may be blocked by bunkers or dangerous bosses. You must defeat them to be able to continue. In the process of passing each region, enemies will attack Captain Commando with weapons that can emit high-frequency waves. They stalk him constantly and can appear randomly at any time. The corridors of the space station are also dangerous because Captain Commando will always be attacked by automatic cannons or machine guns if he is within their range.

Captain Commando’s weapon is the Mega Smasher – a high-speed laser gun that can penetrate enemies, Barrier: a powerful shield that blocks a certain number of bullets and Flash Bomb: a killing item wounding everything on the screen can clean up a lot of weak enemies. Weapons can be found by destroying enemies or opening support crates. They can be used continuously. However, they will be lost if Captain Commando is defeated.
