Monster Party is an action-adventure game developed by Bandai for Nintendo in 1989. The game revolves around a child named Mark. On his way home from a baseball game, he met an alien named Bert. He is seeking help to defeat the evil monsters from his world. Because Mark was the first person he met, he offered to help. He agreed and went with Bert to his world. On the way to Bert’s world, the two became one together.
The enemies that players need to confront include corpses, giant spiders, zombies, medusa, dragons, and the grim reaper … The game also inspired the characters in Japanese folklore such as Banchō Sarayashiki and Inugami.
After coming to Bert’s world, he will fight enemies and face many pitfalls. When he has overcome all these challenges, Mark will fight the leader, Master. Bert’s world has been saved, they will return to Mart’s house. The two separated, Bert gave Mart a gift instead of thanks.
Players will control the character Mart uses a baseball bat to destroy enemies and deflect their attacks. If the character is touched by enemies or their waves, you will lose your HP. The character will die when the hp bar shown at the bottom of the screen is depleted. You will return to the starting position at the level you just died. Monsters can only fire bullets for a period of time. After a short time, they will recover their attack ability. Take advantage of this free time to reach and destroy them. The monsters will drop items after you destroy them. You will be able to pick up heart-shaped items to recover lost HP. The pills will turn the character into Bert in a certain amount of time. When in this state, you will turn into a falling one. You can fly and shoot bullets to attack enemies. The attack power in this state will be stronger which means the ability to kill monsters faster. After completing certain levels, the character will completely transform into Bert.
Monster Party includes 8 maps. After completing the mission of each map, you can save your progress so that you do not need to restart the game when you return. At the end of each map, you will have to fight a boss. You will win the game when you have completed all 8 map missions.
