Battletoads is an animated film with unique content produced by DIC Animation City to compete with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The film revolves around three main characters, Rash, Zitz, and Pimple. After the film’s success, a game version was developed based on the film’s plot and first released in June 1991.
The main enemy you need to defeat in Battletoads is the Dark Queen. Besides, you must protect Professor T. Bird and Princess Angelica. In particular, the Dark Queen wants to have the amulet of Princess Angelica to invade the universe. However, Princess Angelica was kidnapped along with the Pimple. Therefore, you have the mission to overcome many traps and defeat the dark mutant army of the Dark Queen to rescue Princess Angelica.
Players will be comfortable climbing to overcome many obstacles. Besides overcoming the pitfalls along the way, you also have to fight the space mutants. You can engage in bare-handed fights or pick up various weapons along the way to kill enemies. When not able to pick up the weapons to fight, you will be using Smash Hit fighting techniques to defeat the enemies. The number of enemies and pitfalls need to overcome a lot. Therefore, you must have the calm and control the character skillfully to complete the game.
Each challenge of the game will be prepared for each different level. To complete a level, you need to destroy enemies and overcome many various obstacles. When starting the experience, you will be given three lives to use. In addition to the three lives provided, you can also collect 1-Up along the way. You are allowed to collect and use a maximum of 5 lives. There are 12 levels for you to pass, and at the last level, you will be fighting the Dark Queen to end the game.
Twelve levels of the game will be arranged in 4 different stages. Each stage will be prepared with three levels, and each level will correspond to a specific area for you to fight. The first stage is Plan A with level 1 – Ragnarok Canyon, level 2 – Wookie Hole, level 3 – Turbo Tunnel. Stage 2 consists of level 4 – Arctic Caverns, level 5 – Surf City, and level 6 – Karnath’s Lair is called Plan B. Then, Plan C consists of level 7, level 8, and level 9 (Volkmire’s Inferno, Intruder Excluder, and Terra Tubes). The last three levels are 10, 11, and 12 under Plan D (Rat Race, Clinger Winger, and The Revolution).
