Super Mario 74: Ten Years After

Super Mario 74: Ten Years After

Peace has returned to the Mushroom Kingdom after Princess Peach was rescued from Bowser’s evil clutches and a catastrophic disaster was averted. Mario notices that something is off around the worlds and is looking into the changes as its restoration process is taking place. Could this be Bowser seeking retribution or the beginning of some strange phenomenon that will once more spread throughout the kingdom?

A significant ROM hack was developed by Mariocrash (also known as LinCrash on Twitch), titled Super Mario 74: Ten Years After. This hack, which was released in January 2021, is a mashup of Lugmillord’s Super Mario 74 and its Extreme Edition counterpart, which adds newer missions and themes for the levels. It was created to commemorate Super Mario 74’s official 10th anniversary of release.

The third game in the series, as indicated by the title, takes place ten years after the events of Extreme Edition. As a result, the levels are no longer insanely challenging, though some are more challenging than their predecessors in terms of visual challenge. Even though everything is unique, there are fewer extras not found in either hack and the levels are mirror images of each other once more.

The new update, Deluxe Edition, which came out around the same time that Super Mario 74 was fully released, includes additional quality-of-life improvements, polished design changes, and the 2 newly reworked Sphere levels as a way to make the game easier for both experienced and blind/casual players.
