Super Mario 65 The Rainbow Stars

Super Mario 65 The Rainbow Stars

Two years After losing Super Mario 64, Bowser decides to travel other kingdoms, not just the Mushroom Kingdom, and finds the “Rainbow Starship”, an ancient place where you can see a rainbow star from the sky. Mario is warned, and Bowser and his henchmen open the Castle of the Stars, where they can control the Rainbow Stars. To open the worlds, they need the soul of a princess, so they capture Peach. Mario is interrupted at home by the news that Peach has been captured. “Rainbow Starship” is to see the stars, while “Castle of the Stars” is to get them.

After opening the second door of “The Castle of the Stars”, Bowser sets a trap for Mario to seal him for 7 years. Since Bowser captured Peach (CandyLand) and everything they read in part one of the story, Bowser has absolute power and is locked in the “Dark World” with Peach, where all the “Rainbow Stars” power is scattered.

Skelenio’s Super Mario 65 Rainbow Stars hack is massive. This hack restyles Mario to resemble his SM64DS counterpart. The creator calls this hack SM64’s direct sequel with 164 stars.
This hack used most level models from other hacks. Thus, this hack is a mix of levels from other creators with minor tweaks, resulting in level design and difficulty inconsistencies. Some said Skelenio went ahead and used these levels in his hack without permission.

This hack will be followed by “Super Mario 65 2: The Alternative Worlds”

The difficulty of this hack ranges from moderate to very hard. The first Overworld is easy but has some tricky stars. The 2nd and 3rd overworlds are difficult, sometimes like an extreme hack. Many later courses have secrets, reds, and panels, requiring expert navigation of difficult levels. The last main course has lots of quicksand and insanely difficult wall jumps. The level has exactly 100 Coins.
