This game is a sequel to Super Mario Land in 1992. The story revolves around the main character Mario on his journey to reclaim his own island named Mario Land from the hands of an old friend Wicked Wario. The gameplay is similar to other Super Mario Bros. games when you have to overcome many different levels and kill enemies by jumping on them. In addition, you can collect fire flowers to create fruits, Fireballs attack enemies. The mechanism to accumulate coins for more lives is removed, instead, you will have to collect hearts to instantly gain more lives or collect stars to become invincible. In this state, you need to defeat the fifth enemy to gain more lives.
