Friday the 13th is a horror game released by LJN in 1989. The game is set in Crystal Lake, where the kids in school or play. Jason, an evil lord is angry and conspiracy to destroy mankind. To prevent him from carrying out this conspiracy, the player will play the role of Mark, a young man who begins the journey to search for Jason’s hiding place and destroy him.
During his journey, Mark must go through many obstacles to search for clues about Jason and rescue some kidnapped children. He began his journey in a house. The map in Crystal Lake is displayed at the bottom of the screen to make it easier for him to find. On the way, Mark met many monsters in the way. Initially, he is provided with weapons that are a small ball thrown from his hand to attack the enemy. Mark has a fast-moving skill and high jumping ability. When he encounters an enemy, he will attack them by throwing the ball at the enemy. When 3 balls are thrown, the monster will be destroyed. Mark can also escape the pursuit of the enemy by jumping over their heads. As he walks around Crystal Lake, he will enter homes to search for kidnapped children. Saving every child will help Mark get some bonus points. However, after getting out of that house, he will meet more monsters appear.
When traveling around Crystal Lake, he can collect some items like fire and physical regeneration. When Mark collects flames, weapons that he possesses will turn into torches. The enemy disappears when attacked by a torch. Some special monsters will appear in a house. Upon entering those houses, he will restrict the ability to observe. Mark must attack quickly and find a way to escape the room before being kidnapped by this special monster. Successfully destroying this monster will help Mark collect clues about Jason’s hiding place. Having owned many clues, Mark quickly combined to form a map to a forest. In this forest, he has to fight many different monsters. Jason appears at the end of the forest with a sword weapon. Mark used his torch to repeatedly throw and dodge attacks from Jason. Jason moves very fast requiring Mark to attack accurately to destroy him. The game ends when Jason is defeated, Mark rescues all kidnapped children.
