The video game Target: Terror is a rail shooter in which the player assumes the role of a member of a highly trained special police squad tasked with preventing terrorists from detonating important landmarks and destroying the United States. The game takes players to the Denver International Airport, the Golden Gate Bridge, and a highly classified nuclear site before culminating with the mastermind terrorist flying high above the White House in a Boeing 747.
In the Wii version, the Wiimote can be used instead of a light pistol, and the Wii Zapper accessory can be used alongside it. The player has the option of using the Wii Nunchuk, which may be used for shooting and activating the smart bombs that are scattered throughout the game world. This pack includes various handguns, shotguns, machine guns, flamethrowers, rocket launchers, grenade launchers, freeze guns, shock guns, and other types of weaponry.
Target Terror pays homage to older video games like Area 51 by including full-motion video captures, cheesy visuals, and an absurd amount of blood and gore when the violence level is turned to its maximum. There is also an option to reduce the amount of bloodshed in the game for players of a younger age. The gameplay is made longer with combos, medals, and minigames. This modification adds a cooperative mode that allows two players to battle together and a Justice mode in which the player can hold two weapons at once.
