River City Ransom is an engaging role-playing and fighting game released in 1989. Besides, it has the same scrolling style as Double Dragon. Therefore, players can freely move in many different directions (left, right, above, and below). Along with allowing players to move freely, the game also offers many unique fighting skills for you to enjoy. You can unlock and upgrade fighting skills after completing the requirements of the game (pass the level or defeat the boss).
This game offers two modes of play for one player and two players. Discover it, and you will enjoy the journey to fight and protect Ryan’s love. Ryan’s girlfriend, Cyndi was arrested by an evil man. He is Slick, the head of gangs in the school. Accompanying Ryan on this journey is Alex, a loyal comrade. Before experiencing, you will be given the choice of game mode and character to control. Then you get to choose the level to explore. There are two levels for you to enjoy: advanced and basic. At the basic level, you will be fighting enemies with normal attack skills. And with superior levels, enemies will possess many powerful offensive skills, and they can deal a lot of damage to you.
Battles will take place in River City, and Cyndi is being held at River City High. To rescue Cyndi, Ryan and Alex need to defeat many different gangs. Each gang will take control of a school and have a boss that you must overcome in order to continue to experience. You have to fight with groups like The Generic Dudes, The Squids, The Jocks, or The Frat Guys. In addition, each ribbon will have its own distinctive color (T-shirt color).
Join combat, and you will be using weapons or unarmed combat. You can collect weapons along the way like baseball bats to defeat enemies. Or throw trash, tires at the enemy to knock them down. Each destroyed enemy will drop a bonus, and you will use the gift to upgrade your combat skills. The combat skills you use include Stone Hands, Dragon feet, Grand Slam, and you can buy them in the store. In addition to unlocking combat skills, you are also allowed to purchase foods and healing items for the character. Each recovery item and item will bring its own benefits. They can restore the character’s vitality or increase attributes for offensive skills. From there, the enemy will be defeated quickly, and you can rescue Cyndi easier.
