Bug Island is a bug-filled island ideal for Michelle, studying insect physiology, to work on a school report. Mike, the usual confident college playboy, and Ray, a freshman, arrive. When Mike and Ray arrive on the island, they fight over Michelle, who suddenly rushes out into the fog and is nowhere to be found. Ray must now find Michelle and leave the island in one piece.
In this Resident Evil-inspired survival horror game, the player takes control of Ray and watches him from behind. Ray discovers various weapons on his trip into the unknown, ranging from a simple stick to a machete and even a handy bug spray to fend off the many enemies. These include giant gorillas or odd lizard women, the rare boss battle versus 10-foot-tall praying mantises, and other similar screen-filling monstrosities. When killed, each monster has a different weakness and drops purple fragments. If the player collects enough of these, a special box in the level will appear, containing various valuable objects (typically guns).
