FIFA 07 – Soccer

The soccer game series makes its third appearance on the PSP with the release of FIFA Soccer 07. It improves upon the version released the year before by including rosters that have been updated, new control choices, and new game modes.

The game contains the same variety of rest-of-the-world, international, and rest-of-the-world leagues as the console edition, which totals 27 leagues from 20 different countries, including the Turkish company, for the first time. Kick-Off may be played in friendlies, tournaments, and challenges (including 31 new comeback challenges and 30 new rout challenges), and wireless multiplayer (both ad-hoc and infrastructure) are returning game options. This game is the first to bring the manager mode, which has been on the console versions for some time, to the PlayStation Portable. In addition to focusing on their performance on the field, players are tasked with running a club team, which includes managing interactions with fans, sponsors, and the club board. Careers on the PSP version can be transferred to and from the PS2 version of the game via the link cable that connects the two systems. Player training is handled by minigames only available on the PSP version of the game; these include Juggling, which has been brought back, and Wall Attack, which is brand new. In the video game Wall Attack, the objective is to score points by kicking a ball against a wall of colored blocks. A particular number of issues must be earned within a set time to proceed to the next level. Some unions have icons that have additional effects, such as clearing surrounding blocks or blocks of the same color. These effects can be activated by clicking on the symbol.

Chip shots are one of the new control options, along with various additional configurations. Players now have the option of controlling the action with either an analog stick or a d-pad (or both, but without the ability to make on-the-fly adjustments to their tactics), and there is now an alternate button layout modeled after Pro Evolution Soccer.
