The fifth installment in the Bit. The trip video game series is called Bit. Trip Runner. In this game version, the player directly controls Commander Video as they scroll through a rhythm-based platformer. Again, the soundtrack is made up of vintage chiptune sounds, and the graphics, despite being in 3D, are evocative of 8-bit video games from the 1980s.
Jumping, sliding, punching, and using jump pads are the four different moves the player character can perform. The player must do these four actions in perfect time with the music to progress through the game and solve its challenges. There are three different significant levels, and within each of those levels are various substages that progressively become more challenging. After each class, a demanding boss encounter awaits the player, putting their abilities to the test by requiring them to utilize different permutations of the game’s four actions. As with the games that came before it, it is possible to accumulate score multipliers that improve the game’s overall audio-visual presentation. For each level, a predetermined quantity of gold bars must be gathered to achieve a perfect score.
